Excuse me for being a downer but... Why is BMW kind of awesome again? Just because they might make the M2 only available with a manual? The M3/M4 is also available with a manual. Why does a maker become awesome by taking away the option to have a DCT?

If you mean they are kinda awesome because you think they are getting back to their roots and building a driver's car etc etc... then I hate to burst your bubble; that article (even if it's true) clearly states that they are worried an auto M2 will compete with M3/M4 sales. It's clearly a marketing decision, not a decision to appease the jalopnik crowd. I have no doubt the M2 will be an amazing car, but with all the praise that is being given to the M3/M4's DCT (even Chris Harris thinks it's more proper than the manual), I think an M2 in only manual is a downgrade.

That being said, I'm looking to get an M3 in manual; it's just more fun.

The M235i weighs a tad over 3,500 lbs. Not a lightweight, but certainly no fatty. The SS is a bit over 3,700 lbs.

Current Camaro SS is based on the Zeta platform. The next one will be on Alpha which is what the ATS is based on and that car checks in at 3,315 lbs. So it stands to reason that the next Camaro could not only be as light but possibly lighter than the M2.

The ATS with the V6 weighs a tad over 3,400 lbs, so I doubt the SS with a V8 is going to weigh less than 3,500 lbs.

Not sure how I feel about manual only. On one hand it keeps the poser status symbol crowd out, but on the other hand automatics are the future.

Either way I can't even afford the M235 yet so I'll have to wait a few years.
